Hunt Departs Durban City by Mutual Agreement
Gavin Hunt has concluded his brief period as head coach of Durban City FC, with the club confirming the mutual separation on Monday, 1 December.
The decision follows the newly promoted Betway Premiership side’s 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates over the weekend, Hunt’s 1019th professional game in South African football.
The vastly experienced, four-time league winner leaves the KwaZulu-Natal team in a respectable eighth place on the Premier League table, having accrued 19 points from 15 league fixtures.
However, the board felt that despite promising moments, inconsistent results necessitated a strategic alteration.
Club chairman Farook Kadodia confirmed the amicable nature of the split, stating: “The Board believes a new direction is necessary to achieve our performance goals.”
Assistant coach Pitso Dladla will immediately take temporary charge, guiding the side through their next match against Orbit College on Wednesday, 3 December.
The club plans to utilise the upcoming AFCON break to conduct a thorough search for a permanent successor to align with their long-term vision.
